Stories
Last weeks meeting
Rob hosted the meeting this week.

His thought for the day

Inspirational Quotes from Walt Disney About Dreams

How true is that. Though we did have a talk amongst ourselves as we discussed a verbal survey ahead of our attendance at the Boroondara Volunteers expo.

Matters in the interest of Rotary
  • Elizabeth asked for volunteers to transport between 2 and 4 Rypen students to Malmesbury
    • This year the Club is sponsoring students to attend RYPEN. We had none last year but two the year before. I am calling for volunteers to transport the students from Kew High School who we are sponsoring to RYPEN at DOXA Camp Malmsbury on Friday March 22nd (to arrive by 5pm) or return from DOXA on Sunday March 24th (leave there at 2pm). We would need one set for each way. The Sunday drivers are invited to lunch before the return trip. The address is 1000 Vaughn Springs Road Drummond North, just outside Malmsbury approximately 100km from Melbourne. Last time we had students attending I took them and stayed for the camp but I can’t this time as I am involved at PETS at Bendigo the same weekend.
The urgency is that the deadline for the applications is March 5th and the transport information, including drivers and their wwcc number, has to be included in the application.
If you can help, please give your name and WWCC number along with your availability (Friday or Sunday or either) to Elizabeth Shepherd (0419 121 059 or elizabethshepherd23@hotmail.com) by Friday March 1st.  At the time of writing we may have a volunteer for the return trip but get in touch with Elizabeth anyway
  • A reminder of the Boroondara Antiques Fair on March 24th - for those not assisting at the Camp Getaway working Bee it's your chance to find some antiques or even get yours valued - Hosted by RC Kew
No speaker this week but, as mentioned above, we did have a survey of the state of the club and ideas moving forward. Well hosted by Rob there were a lot of ideas put forward which will be collated and discussed further.

Do you have any photos from Rotary activity which are worth sharing?  Please send them to Lili-Ann and she will collate them as well.

Next weeks speaker - Sam Arthur - What is an exercise physiologist?

Sam has been a practicing Exercise Physiologist since he set up his clinic in Kew East in 2015.

He has completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science, Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology, Master of Human Nutrition and is Accredited with Exercise Sports Science Australia.
His practice works with people of a variety of ages, from teenagers to older adults. His role includes prescription and supervision of clinical exercise interventions to assist people with a variety of health conditions. Specifically, Sam helps people learn how exercise can assist the management of Diabetes, Cancer, heart disease as well as chronic pain and fatigue related conditions.

His interests outside of work include hanging out with his two year old, Noah, following the Richmond Football Club and hacking up Kew Golf Club.
Regionalisation - Establishment meeting
Tonight there is an Establishment meeting where further information will be provided regarding the Regionalisation pilot and structure of the

So what are the next steps in the Regionalisation Pilot. The support of every Rotarian in D9800 is sought for the implementation of Rotary Community Group (RCG) collaboration and Rotary Community Leader (RCL) appointment.

The next step is to conduct an Establishment Meeting during which our District Governor Team will deliver a presentation clarifying the next steps. Further, there will be opportunity for you to meet in your RCG to provide feedback to the Steering Group on key questions which will help inform the position description of the RCL. The detail we need feedback for comes from the core questions:
  • What do you want to work on together?
  • What sort of leadership and support would help us succeed?
  • What arrangements will work for you?
For those keen to know more about the process
