Belmore Special School
We have undertaken to provide labour to assist with the installation of a new garden at the school. Followed by a bbq. at the Cunniffe’s
On Saturday, 29 We spent the morning setting out a new garden in the front of the school, and also tidying up various areas within the main playground.
Our work with the new garden was made much easier by supervision from the landscape gardener with his very detailed plan. The night before the heavens had opened and we all wondered what weather would be like in the morning, but fortunately the sun shone and the soil was easy to work with.
Thanks to Alan Stevens (who didn’t even stop for a tea break!), Graham Bishop, Gerry Cross, Ian Coopes, John McCaskill, Mal Short and Marty Tynan (our Police Mentoree). Also a BIG THANKS to Nora Ley, who arrived with a batch of delicious savoury scones for morning tea.
A great result. Thanks Team! Val Cunniffeth October a group of members, plus staff from Belmore School
Club Members donate their faces to Movember
Club members Brian Bloomer and David Chudasco are donating their faces to the Movember.
Each year Movember (formerly known as November) sees the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in Australia and around the world, with the sole aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s health. Now we're asking you to make a small donation to support our moustache and research into the cure for prostate cancer which will kill an estimated 3,300 men in 2010 in Australia alone and support the one in eight men who will experience depression in their lifetime. Friends join us, Brian Bloomer and David Chudasco by donating or guys, by growing your own mo, and visiting www.movember.com or
Donate to our cause or just check our our Mo growth and donation progress at:
Brian Bloomer http://au.movember.com/mospace/793092/
David Chudasco http://au.movember.com/mospace/336452/
Men sporting Movember moustaches, known as Mo Bros, become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.
Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo growing efforts. The rules are simple; register online at Movember.com and start the month of Movember clean shaven, before growing a Mo.
Markham Avenue - Community Gardens
Boroondara Councillor, Kevin Chow, with Rotary Club of Canterbury President, Brian Bloomer, and State MP, Bob Stensholt, officially opened the Markham Avenue Community Gardens on Sunday 11 October, 2009.
The Community Gardens are the brain-child of Roger Taylor, Member of the Rotary Club of Canterbury. Roger planted the seed for the gardens 5 years ago and he has passionately nurtured the idea, gathering support from Local and State government and other local community groups. Thanks to funding and land grants from state and local govt the Community Gardens are now a reality.
