RIMERN is a Rotary project working within the Inner Melbourne area.
It is the sister organisation to ERN (operating in Eastern Melbourne) and WERN (operating in the Western Melbourne area).
RIMERN is a Rotary multi-club Community Service project that opened its doors in June 2021 and collects furniture, appliances and homewares to give to clients of welfare agencies who are being assisted into secure housing following homelessness, domestic violence, refugee displacement, incarceration and other situations of hardship.
All its labour is volunteer, Rotarians and community members, helping in a range of ways, both at the warehouse and remotely. RIMERN is called the 'home of residential recycling' because not only is it fitting out homes for people in need, but it is saving tons of perfectly good homewares from landfill.
RIMERN is supported by several Rotary Clubs including the Canterbury Rotary Club. These clubs help fund the base operations of the enterprise and contribute the backbone of our volunteer workforce.
RIMERN provides material aid to help furnish homes and provides this service through its network of support Welfare Agencies.
Its activities are:
Collecting
Storing
Fundraising
Distributing
Canterbury Rotary Club’s support for the RIMERN project
Many Club members provide hands-on support to the project which is gratefully appreciated.
